HomeWelcomeNov 15, 2004
In 2003, in Hong Kong, I saw a gecko crossing across the very busy Pokfulam Road. It dodged killer mini buses, avoided intimidating double deckers and moved through cars rushing to the Central Business District. It was quite a sight watching that funny reptile, so out of place. I was silently cheering it on as it scrambled towards the safety of Victoria Peak.

I empathize with the gecko not because I look like one (at least I hope not!), but because I often feel that my life has been a series of situations where I would be hopelessly out of place. I sort of just fall into things like the gecko did, often scared shitless when diving headfirst into the unknown. Like the gecko, I’m no athlete or adventurer. I’m just a little geek with my laptop and my camera – hanging on for dear life.

Thus, I name this blog in honor of the brave gecko. May its safe crossing through Pokfulam Road be a good omen to those of us who are currently engrossed in our own mad scramble for survival..

Special Note on my REVIEWS and RECIPES Section Anyone who knows me knows I’m no cook so you can consider this section recipe tips for non-cooks, kitchen morons like me. These are things you can make, even in Petuake, Zambia where grocery supplies are sorely limited.
